A cocktail with a kick, the “Woe What a Night!” brings coffee, orange, and cinnamon together into a tantalizing, classic blend of flavors.

We start off with Señor Rio Cafe Elegancia, a coffee liqueur made with tequila, coffee beans, and cane sugar. As a woman owned business we were thrilled to find this woman created coffee liqueur in our Gainesville, FL Total Wine store. This chocolatey, sweet, and smooth café tequila liqueur was a fantastic addition to our newest recipe! Don’t be afraid to try other coffee tequilas if you feel like experimenting.

Next, we added Grand Mariner! A classic liqueur and one of our all

time, personal favorites. The sweet and zesty, orange citrus brandy really highlights the subtle chocolate, nutty notes in the coffee tequila. Orange and coffee aren’t always a traditional pairing for cocktails but in this case, you’ll want to try it.

Lastly, the non alcoholic, mixer additions are: brown sugar-cinnamon syrup and fresh brewed coffee. We used the Torani brand syrup in this recipe but you could very easily make it at home with brown sugar, cinnamon, and water. Simmer it on medium-low until it coats the backside of a spoon. Cool to room temperature in a mason jar and store it in the fridge. We bought our Torani syrup because #momlife. Who has time to be that bougie when there are great products on the shelf and you’re chasing down 3 kids under 8?!?! We DID however, brew a fresh pot of coffee because, thank goodness for caffeine! Are we right!? If espresso is more your thing, do it. We would never judge you for the added caffeine kick!

Don’t forget to shake this one over ice and strain it into your favorite coffee mug … or, umm, cocktail glass. If you don’t have a shaker, use a mason jar with a tight fitting lid. They are just as effective and you probably have one hanging around the kitchen. The shake up will cause the liquors to foam up slightly and add a delightful, frothy sip to your pallet.  To put the “icing on the cake” (so to speak) we recommend a cinnamon sugar rim or an orange slice for garnish.

This particular cocktail was inspired by Wednesday Addams’ “quad on ice” that she drinks regularly on the Netflix show 'Wednesday'.  While hers was (obviously) non-alcoholic, this drink packs a punch and is not for the faint of heart (or the under 21). You can also try replacing your basic espresso martini with “Woe What a Night!” Our recipe definitely has more zest and more kick!! We hope you enjoy this delicious curated cocktail, concoction as much as we do! Cheers 🥂
